At Transition Bikes we are first and foremost a rider owned company, and that motivates every facet of our business. We only make products that we use day in and day out that exceed our strict standards for performance. We don’t jump on the bandwagon of trends created by larger bike corporations just because we think it will be profitable.
So you may be wonder how the name Hairy Gary came about? While volunteering as a race mechanic, Gary met a mountain bike racer who made the suggestion and sketched the original logo. Gary's assistant immediately like the idea, and the name has caught on. The name and logo are proudly posted on every hand craft piece of work that leaves the Pedal Sport shop.
We at Ride-this are a rider owned company. We ride our bikes as much as we can (which lately hasn't been a lot due to getting this shop off the ground!) You will probably see us at local races or riding spots, or doing some street sessions in downtown Portland. We ride what we sell, granted we don't ride everything we sell but we know someone who rides almost everything that we carry. We support small rider owned companies because frankly they produce the stuff the big companies will be making 2 years from now! The small rider owned companies are on the cutting edge and can react to the changing tastes of riders quickly and they usually produce the stuff, which only people who ride all the time truly need!
At Clif Bar Inc, a portion of the money we earn and hours we work will always serve to support and improve environmental, social and cultural needs—from our local to our global community. Putting our values into action goes beyond our bars. Serving our community and supporting important causes is not a by-product of our business. Rather, it is one of the reasons we are in business.
